Every corporation and business has a unique story to tell, whether they realize it or not. Finding that core, and bringing it to life, is what makes a great brand video. One that doesn’t just inform, but inspires.
Recently the Howard Hughes Corporation (HHC) brought us in to create a brand video.
They needed a tool they could use to help bring new business partners up to speed on the culture at HHC before launching into a multi-million dollar project. Before we shot a single frame we met with them to understand where the company came from. We wanted to understand what makes them different from everyone else in the real estate development space.
As we had these discussions, we realized that a big part of what drives them is the inspiration of their namesake, Howard Hughes. Howard Hughes was known for pushing the envelope, finding unique solutions, and always demanding excellence from those around him. We decided that would be the jumping off point for this story.
While we didn’t want to spend the majority of the video talking about the past, we knew it would be a good way to quickly create a stark picture in the viewers mind. To accomplish this we sourced archival photos and brought them to life with a sleek, contemporary animation style. This opening helps to establish the unique world of HHC and launches us into the larger brand story.
Not every company has a well known, mercurial founder to drive their brand story. But we have discovered over the years that every brand is distinctive because they are composed of people. And every group of people will generate its own special blend of personalities and culture.
